Chael Sonnen All Smiles Despite Huge Forehead Gash (PHOTO)
Chael Sonnen was all smiles at his post-fight press conference following a huge upset win over top middleweight contender Nate ‘The Great’ Marquardt at UFC 109: Relentless Saturday night. MMAWeekly.com had photographers on hand that captured the following shot (see below) of Sonnen’s facial damage which he suffered from a devastating elbow strike in the second round that caused blood to rush from his head like a faucet.
From the photo it appears as though he required stitches in both the head and nose but the wounds contrast nicely with Sonnen’s beaming grin in telling the story of his night.
