Dana White and the UFC have singled out two cities in which they would like to see Koscheck vs. GSP to happen. Which city will they choose?

According to credible sources, the UFC is at Toronto and Pittsburgh as possible hosts for the December GSP vs. Josh Koscheck Welterweight Title bout. MMA is not regulated in Toronto, but the UFC is actively trying to get that changed. They are opening a Toronto office, and have hired former Canadian League Commissioner and one-time Adidas Canadian president Tom Wright to run the office. The move could be made as Toronto is having a mayoral election in October of 2010. But if Toronto isn’t ready, Pittsburgh, PA is an option. Koscheck is from Waynesburg, PA, which is 60-miles outside of downtown Pittsburgh. Koscheck has been petitioning for a fight there, and even believes that his personality has caused a strained relationship with Dana White..

“Dana obviously doesn’t like me; he’s already said that publicly because I’m not a team player. How the [expletive] can I not be a team player? I’m the guy that steps up and fights anybody when they need it. It’s all [expletive]. If I’m not a team player, than I don’t know what I am. But I respect Dana for what he’s done. He’s done a good job with this promotion. He’s done a good job getting the UFC to where it is. I’m thankful for that because if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have a job. But he doesn’t like me, (and) I don’t like him. That’s fine. I can just tell you that ‘TUF 12′ is going to be a hell of a [expletive] show.

Josh Koscheck vs. GSP could take place in Canada, more on what could be a huge event.

At today’s press conference in Toronto, Dana White did not offer any confirmation, but also did not deny that the St-Pierre (22-2 MMA, 16-2 UFC) vs. Koscheck (15-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC) Welterweight Title Bout could take place in Canada. The company is just weeks away from UFC 115, which will be the fourth event the company has held in Canada. St-Pierre is a superstar in Canada, and the feeling is that a title defense in his home country could be one of the biggest UFC events to date. There is even speculation that the UFC would hold a fan expo event to go along with the event.

Find out what message Koscheck sends to GSP, and how it could end up adding fuel to the fire.

Josh Koscheck shares his thoughts on his upcoming Welterweight bout against GSP later this year. He also sends a message to the Canadian:

“This time it is everything. This is going to be it man. This is my run to the title and I’m going to get it. I’m close. I’ve got to be focused. I’ve got to train and I’m coming out of this fight with a victory. I think the city of Pittsburgh needs something like that. I’m from the area and it would be great to come home and have the support of all of my fans that have been backing me all the way since I was in college wrestling all the way up to now fighting for the title… Pittsburgh would be a great, great city to have the UFC. Bringing the UFC to Pittsburgh would be awesome, but regardless where it is, it’s going to be a great event, and me and St. Pierre are going to put on a good show. Georges, you better work on your power, because I’m going to force you to stand up with me when we fight, and I’m going to knock you out.”

"I'm going to end up knocking him out." - Josh Koscheck on the subject of George St. Pierre

Josh Koscheck recently spoke to TSN about his upcoming Welterweight Title match against George St. Pierre, which will take place later this year:

“I don’t think I need to get in Georges St-Pierre’s head. He knows what kind of fighter I’ve improved (to) … I’m going to have my wrestling so good that I’m going to force Georges St-Pierre into standing toe to toe with me and then I’m going to end up knocking him out, because I believe that Georges doesn’t have knockout power and I do … [In the first fight] I kind of just overlooked he was a good athlete and had the ability to learn wrestling so quick. I believe that I was young, naive and a little immature. I think now I’m wiser, older and a lot smarter when it comes to preparing and putting a game plan together.”

Koscheck and GSP will coach the next season of The Ultimate Fighter and will fight at the end of the season.

Following his actions on UFC 113 Paul Daley issues an apology to Josh Koscheck, the UFC, and his fans.

Following his actions on UFC 113 Paul Daley issues an apology to Josh Koscheck, the UFC, and his fans. Daley was released immediately after his fight with Josh Koscheck because of the cheap shot he threw following the bell. The following is what he had to say:

I’ve had a long flight home to consider my actions and regret the mistake I made on Saturday. I would like to apologize to the UFC and the Athletic Commission for what I’ve done as well as all the fans and sponsors that support me. I would also like to offer my sincerest apologies to Josh Koscheck who did not deserve the cheap shot I threw. He did what he needed to do in order to win the fight and get the job done, and I foolishly reacted to the situation. There is no excuse for my actions and I know what I did was very unprofessional. I was immensely frustrated by a collection of things that took place throughout the fight as well as leading up to it, but I’m certainly not trying to condone or excuse my actions.

Josh implemented his game plan perfectly taking me down and staying on top of me for the majority of the fight. I was also frustrated about him claiming (and acting like) I knee’d him in the head on the ground when it was clear for all to see in the video replay that I didn’t connect at all with the knee I threw. Then finally, the verbal abuse Josh hit me with in the final 30 seconds of the fight simply pushed me over the edge and my frustrations came out as I knew I’d lost the fight, was unhappy with my own performance and had then been ridiculed by my opponent to top things off.

“This is certainly no excuse for my actions; I fully deserve to be punished for what I did and hope that everyone I have disappointed can forgive my rash decision. I feel very disappointed in myself for losing my cool and hope that I am able to address my temperament and bounce back from this low point in my career. I feel ashamed and embarrassed by what I did and hope that together my team and I can get through this issue.

It will be a long road back from where I am now to earning the trust and respect of the UFC and the MMA fans that have supported me for so long, I know I’ve let you all down but I’m determined to make it up to you all.”

Josh Koscheck talks about his win at UFC 113, fighting GSP, the knee to the head he took from Paul Daley that seemed to miss on when replayed & more

In a post-fight interview following UFC 113, Josh Koscheck spoke about his title fight and antagonizing the fans. Some highlights:

Would He Fight GPP in Montreal? “Negative. We’re going to Pittsburgh for that one.”

Taunting the Montreal Fans at UFC 113: “I knew that if they booed me, then I was going to get even with them. I didn’t know that the Penguins did beat the – what is it, the Habs? – tonight. That didn’t go over too well.”

The Illegal Knee That Seemed to Miss: “I just kind of got kneed in the eye. I don’t know if it was a knee or a punch, to be honest with you. I was on my knees and just got hit. I just tried to get a couple seconds to get my bearings and go back in.”

Exclusively from the UFC 113 Pre-Event Press Conference, Dana White has announced that the winner of Josh Koscheck vs. Paul Daley will get an opportunity at George St. Pierre and the Welterweight title in the near future.

Speaking of opportunity, the ongoing rumour right now is that the winner of Koscheck vs. Daley will go on to oppose George St. Pierre as a coach on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter. While this news is still considered a rumour White also added that he will announce The Ultimate Fighter season 12 coaches tomorrow just before the weigh-ins for UFC 113.

Until then he is neither confirming nor denying any rumours as to who TUF12 coaches will be.

Paul 'Semtex' Daley has been a showstopper since signing with UFC and his work inside the cage has paid off earning him a 6

The UK-based Telegraph is reporting that Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley (23-8-2) has signed a six-fight contract extension with UFC this week, ensuring that fans will be seeing Daley inside the octagon well into 2011.

Daley was offered the extension almost immediately after destroying Dustin Hazelett at ‘UFC 108: Evans vs Silva’ which put Daley at 2-0 in his UFC appearances, with both victories coming via first round knockout. Clearly UFC President Dana White and Zuffa owners Frank & Lorenzo Fertitta did not let these impressive performances go unnoticed,

Beyond the job security provided by a six-fight contract, the real value for Daley is that over six bouts he can afford a loss or two and still remain in line for a title shot. His next bout is set for UFC 113 against Josh ‘Kos’ Koscheck (14-4-0) who should prove to be Daley’s toughest opponent to date. A win over Koscheck may put him on deck for a title shot to face the winner of Georges ‘Rush’ St. Pierre (19-2-0) vs Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy (23-6-0), though Daley has already stated that he refuses to fight his countryman and teammate (Hardy).

If he’s got his eyes set on welterweight gold then it looks like Daley will be routing for a GSP win in the coming months.

Kos and Semtex will be squaring off on May 1 in Montreal, Canada, but the battle of words has already begun...

UFC is continuing to stack the cards for its spring events and the latest announcement came yesterday as MMAWeekly.com was able to confirm that Josh ‘Kos’ Koscheck (14-4-0) is set to take on the British bomber Paul ‘Semtex’ Daley () in a welterweight bout scheduled for UFC 113 at a venue to be determined in Montreal, Canada. With the Shogun vs Machida title rematch taking place that same night, the question remains as to whether or not Koscheck vs Daley will be billed as a co-main event, as both fighters are extremely popular among fans and are well known for finishing fights in spectacular fashion.

Koscheck was quick to let us know his thoughts about the fight, saying this on his Twitter account yesterday:

“Let the shit talking start. I am fighting Daley, May 1 co-main event UFC 113. This kid is going to get what he’s asking for”

Daley being a smack talker is not up for debate, but he has backed up all the talk by delivering two first round knockouts in his first two UFC appearances, dropping both top ranked Martin Kampmann and Dustin Hazelett with huge strikes in less than three minutes. Koscheck is also riding a two fight win streak after equally impressive wins over Anthony Johnson and Frank Trigg fueling his quest to once again become the top contender at 170lbs.

UFC injury woes continue as yet another fight card will be watered down due to a top contender being forced to sit on the sidelines...

It is being widely reported that Josh Koscheck (14-4-0) has been dropped from the UFC 109 card due to an unknown injury and that fellow American Kickboxing Academy teammate Mike Swick (14-3-0) will take his place to fight Paulo Thiago (12-1-0) in a welterweight bout on February 6, 2010.

Though it is impressive that UFC can schedule a fighter of Swick’s caliber to step in on such short notice, the question is whether or not fight fans care to see Mike Swick compete at 170 lbs. after he was simply outclassed by Dan Hardy in a loss by way of unanimous decision at UFC 105 ‘Couture vs Vera’. Swick clearly possessed a significant size advantage in that bout, but was beat to the punch time and time again by Hardy’s impressive striking speed. Let’s hope Swick can find a better balance in his training as submission specialist Paulo Thiago will be just as difficult to defend.

For Thiago his quest for a title shot remains elusive as this will mark the second straight fight in which Thiago was scheduled to face a top contender at 170 lbs. who then had to bow out due to injury (first Thiago Alves, now Koscheck) and force Thiago to face a lesser ranked opponent. This must be immensely frustrating for the Brazilian whose only blemish on an otherwise perfect resume came against Jon Fitch back at UFC 100 over the summer. Should Thiago claim victory over Swick next month, he is likely get a chance to face the winner of GSP vs Dan Hardy at UFC 111 for the Welterweight Championship.
