Randy ‘The Natural’ Couture (18-10-0) claimed baller status following his rear naked choke victory over Mark ‘The Hammer’ Coleman (16-9-0) at UFC 109: Relentless this past weekend. Baller status comes naturally to Couture who has been in the MMA game for well over a decade and would have earned his $250,000 purse win, lose or draw.
Other notable payouts went to Matt ‘The Terror’ Serra (10-6-0) who took home a $75K win bonus which he folded over another knot of $60K for delivering the ‘Knockout of the Night’. Oh, and Serra also received $75K just for showing up, which nets him a cool $210K for a night’s work – not bad, but not ballin’ like Randy Couture!
‘Submission of the Night’ awards ($60K) went to Paulo Thiago for his beautifully executed D’arce choke on Mike Swick, and both Chael Sonnen and Nate Marquardt took home $60K as their bout was crowned ‘Fight of the Night’ by UFC president Dana White.
In total, UFC handed out $1,199,000 in disclosed payroll, and below you will find a complete list of each fighter’s share of the loot:
