Despite Chael’s Claims, White Reaffirms Silva-Sonnen II
UFC president Dana White says that regardless of what Chael Sonnen thinks or says, he will fight Anderson Silva if he defeats Michael Bisping at this Saturday’s UFC On FOX 2 event.
“Chael is nuts,” White recently stated. “He says all kinds of crazy things. ‘He’s the champion.’ Listen to me. OK? Listen to me. He’s not the champion.”
“He will fight Anderson Silva if he wins. He will not fight for the heavyweight championship or Jon ‘Bones’ Jones. I have to have a separate press conference to stop all the stuff that Chael Sonnen says.”
Much to the surprise of White, Sonnen brought a replica UFC belt up to the podium during Thursday’s UFC On FOX 2 pre-fight press conference, claiming it was Silva’s title which he stole “like a gangster in the night.”
“This is the world championship title, which I took from Anderson Silva,” Sonnen said.”In this country, possession is nine-tenths of the law. Finders keepers, losers weepers, and if he wants it back, he knows where to find me.”
Silva has mostly remained silent throughout the ordeal. Sonnen claims that only improves Silva’s irrelevance.
“As far as I’m concerned, he is as relevant as Mike Tyson, and the only thing he hasn’t done is announce his retirement,” Sonnen said. “He should paint his face, gain 100 pounds, sit in the third row and hope that somebody remembers who they are because neither of those guys matter anymore.”
There is only one way that the Silva-Sonnen bout will not happen and that is if Michael Bisping defeats him this Saturday.
“He can keep his fake belt and shove it up his ass,” Bisping said. “He ain’t fighting Anderson Silva.”
The UFC On FOX 2 event takes place this Saturday, January 28 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
